This report is concerned with analysis of the 2004 seal survey data, collected during the construction period of the wind farm. The Schedule to Licence states that a monitoring programme for the seals, as agreed with the Sea Mammals Research Unit (SMRU) should be carried out to determine the impact of the wind farm. This is specified in the licence as 2 fly-overs per month at low water for the six summer months (April to September) pre, during and post construction. Data collected prior to construction in 2002 and 2003 were to establish the baseline conditions against which the potential impacts of the wind farm could be measured. The licence states that the data collected during each fly-over should be copied to SMRU and a written report provided to the Licensing Authority at three monthly intervals.

Internal code | Internally assigned metadata identifier | 6486 |
Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | 2004, ECON Ecological Consultancy, Scroby Sands Offshore Wind Farm, Seal Monitoring, Analysis of 2004 aerial surveys (Construction phase) |
File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | 1dec9ada611b5ac79e970428626d73bb |
Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | 2061 |
Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | series |
Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2004 |
End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2004 |
Spatial resolution | This describes the spatial resolution of the dataset or the spatial limitations of the service. | inapplicable |
Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | notPlanned |

Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | ECON Ecological Consultancy conducted this seal survey on behalf of E.ON UK Renewables Offshore Wind Limited. In summary, the specific aims of this report were: 1. To analyse the data from the 2004 aerial surveys; 2. To compare this data with the baseline gathered in 2002 and 2003 to identify any changes; 3. To review current knowledge of the potential impacts of wind farms on seals, and to discuss these in the context of the Scroby Sands wind farm. |
